This thing is an absolute time capsule. Was acquired by a band to use as a tour truck with an appropriate name, and once they got it, it was just too incredibly original to alter so they left it as is and drove it all over NYC and throughout the east coast! Thankfully they cared for the originality and so what you have still today is what you'd have seen in 1977. The ambulance was in commission in Chicago through the 70s and 80's and there is a tremendous amount of original documentation included. History on both its use, manuals on the many medical electronics and tools, and instructional lit for EMT procedures that have remained in the van since it was in service. I bought the van because of how incredibly cool it was and plans have since changed as I have other projects taking longer (and more moneys) than expected. When I first got it I was able to start it briefly but wanted to drain the gas before going much further. The van was used as a reliable tour vehicle, was parked for some brake maintenance end of tour season a few years ago and the band members went their separate ways so she sat. Since having parked it next to my home its been use as a hang out spot for my kids as all the lights interior and flashing exterior still work! That and a certain conversation piece during cookouts. Due to constant clubhouse activity by the kids the battery has been drained likely its last time a couple months ago and its just sat dormant since. That's the current state and these are the current pictures. If you're local you're encourage and welcome to come have a look. I would certainly run new gas and drain the old stuff before running it through the carbs so please don't expect to come hop in it for a test drive! That said, its super solid, insanely original, and I am entirely confident it will run, and believe whole heartedly everything I was told be whom I bought it from. I'll be glad to provide all the info and documents I received to the new owner. This thing would be a killer one of a kind classic, camper, prop vehicle, or cookout conversation piece as it has for me! Reasonable reserve on it, and I am always open to talking trades though I probably shouldn't haha especially anything VW related. Also willing to barter services if your local.
